Candle & Diffuser Care
Tips for Using your UYS Candle
Candles need to be cared for to ensure that they live up to their full potential. Follow these tips to keep your candle in great condition, so you can enjoy the beautiful aroma for as long as possible.
Candle Care:
- Let your candle burn for a minimum of 2-3 hours the first time you light it to ensure optimal fragrance and an even burn. This is important because wax has a ‘memory’ and the initial burn affects the melt pool later on. Allow your candle to fully melt in an even melt pool to avoid ‘tunnelling’. This is where the wax around the outside of the candle jar never burns, leaving a ‘tunnel’ effect.
- Carefully trim the candle wick to around 5mm before each lighting. This prevents the flame from being too large and helps stop black smoke from staining the glass.
- Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time and leave 24 hours between each burn. This will allow the wax to cool and prolong the life of your candle.
- Store candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Candle Safety:
- Always place candles on an even heat-resistant surface, away from flammables.
- Do not touch or move a lit candle as the glass jar will get hot.
- Keep lit candles out of reach of children and pets.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- We encourage combining our candles to create your own unique scent, but please ensure that you keep lit candles at least 15cm apart.
Tips for Using your UYS Diffuser
Follow these tips to make the most of your diffuser and enjoy the beautiful home fragrance for as long as possible!
Diffuser Care:
- Carefully remove the stopper and insert the enclosed reed sticks into the diffuser bottle so they can absorb the scented oil.
- Consider where you display your diffuser. Placing the diffuser in an area with good air circulation will help to disperse the fragrance effectively.
- Turn the reed sticks if you prefer a more intense fragrance experience. We recommend turning the reeds every couple of days for optimal fragrance.
- Keep in mind that the fragrance oil will run out faster if you turn the reeds regularly.
- You can use fewer reeds if you want a lighter fragrance or place the diffuser in a small room and don’t want to overpower the space.
Diffuser Safety:
- Fragrance oils can damage polished surfaces and fabrics. Always protect surfaces when you turn the reeds and wipe the glass bottle to ensure that there are no drips.
- Keep diffusers out of reach of children and pets.
- Place your diffuser on a stable, even surface.
- Always wash your hands with water and soap after touching the reed sticks or oil.
- Fragrance oils are highly flammable, so they must be kept away from open flames and other heat sources.
